 Livonian Order Sigulda CastleNowadays it is usual to describe the Livonian Order and it?s historical deeds in the categories fitting the colours of their flag ? white and black. Still, what was this military organisation and how did it manage to rule over the largest part of Livonian territory for almost 300 years? A guided tour of the castle with the attendant, who will tell you about: * history of the castle; * how did Order?s brothers and servants dress and armed themselves; * what was the everyday life and military campaigns of the Order?s brotherhood like. * what were the brothers of the Order of everyday life, and what was their war agenda. Program of activities: * archery or shooting with crossbow; * battle axe and knives; * javelin throwing; * putting on the real battle armour and try a moving in them; * spearman unit training. And in free time you will: * Firstly ? walk along the renovated guards passage to witness the defensive capacity of the fortification; * Climb the renovated tower to enjoy the magnificent view over the Gauja walley; * test the snag and share the experience of being snagged; * play games of precision and gamble in secret; * see trebuchet prototype; Guided tour and activity fee: Adults 3,00 Ls/pers. Students, retired persons: 2,50 Ls/pers. MEDIEVAL FEAST IN THE GARRISON TOWER After the activities in the castle yard, guests are welcome to the feast, tasting the authentic dishes of the Order?s guests table. We offer two different feast settings: * Order?s guests feast (6 dishes) ? 12,50 Ls/pers. * Order?s very special guests feast ? dream of medieval gastronomy ? 21,50 Ls/pers. As the feast goes on, we?ll talk about the Livonian medieval feast traditions, shoot the bow, wrestle, play games and gamble secretly.
